Arshad Nadeem, Neeraj Chopra face off in World Athletics javelin final

Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem is once again facing India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra today as the final round of the World Athletics Championship gets underway.

The much-anticipated qualification round saw Arshad and Neeraj back on the field after months of anticipation. Both athletes have built a strong rivalry, with fans from both sides of the border closely following their performances.

In the final round on Thursday, Arshad Nadeem’s first throw was 82.73 meters. Curtis Thompson of the United States recorded a throw of 86.67 meters in the first throw. Grenada’s Anderson Peters achieved 84.59 meters on his opening attempt. India’s Neeraj Chopra registered a first throw of 83.65 meters, and Sachin Yadav 86.27 meters on his first attempt.

Later, Arshad Nadeem’s second throw was missed. Grenada’s Anderson Peters recorded 87.38m on his second throw. German Julian Weber registered 86.11m on his second attempt. Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra’s second throw was 84.03m.

Arshad’s message to fans

Ahead of the competition, Arshad Nadeem appealed to his supporters to keep him in their prayers. His fans in Pakistan have shown overwhelming encouragement as he prepares for another high-stakes event.

The final of the javelin throw at the World Athletics Championship is scheduled for September 18. Today’s qualification round will determine who advances to that crucial stage.

This will be the first time Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra compete against each other since the brief tensions between India and Pakistan in May. Their rivalry has become symbolic, drawing attention far beyond athletics and turning their contests into must-watch events.
