CM Afridi vows to raise KP’s issues during meeting with PM Shehbaz

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Sunday said he had received an invitation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would use the upcoming meeting to formally raise the province’s grievances.

While addressing a Peace Jirga in Khyber district. CM Afridi accused the federal government of misappropriating billions of rupees allocated for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the province. He said that when his government approved Rs4 billion for relief efforts. The Centre levelled corruption allegations against the provincial administration. However, he added that the KP government would now allocate Rs100 billion. For affected IDPs to ensure transparency and proper rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, federal ministers accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led KP government of corruption. In the allocation of funds for displaced families from the Tirah Valley. Separately, CM Afridi condemned recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan that resulted in the martyrdom of 17 security personnel and 31 civilians. At the same time, he warned of alleged attempts to impose governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming efforts were underway to remove him through the courts.

He asked the jirga participants to decide whether to return to Tirah or march toward Islamabad in protest. Reportedly, participants raised their hands in favour of marching to Islamabad, signalling support for his stance. CM Afridi said he would visit all tribal districts before announcing a final decision.

Earlier, the Khyber Qaumi Jirga demanded that both federal and provincial governments provide essential facilities to IDPs from Tirah Valley. Political leaders, tribal elders, displaced families, and other stakeholders urged the authorities to show solidarity with the affected families and ensure their immediate and dignified rehabilitation.
